Waratah Downs First Share Newsletter Week 1-June 28 2017

Good Day Waratah Downs CSA members!

We have had a flurry of activity out here at the farm in the past weeks and days. Our apologies for the flurry of emails you may be receiving as a result. Working out the kinks in our shares has been fun, and picking our first share orders has been all the more rewarding!
We are hoping everyone is pleased with our bounty this week. For both Medium and Small Shares you are receiving beets, radishes, mixed baby lettuce, Ovation mixed greens(braising or salad mix), rainbow chard and garlic scapes. Our Medium shares also are receiving parsley, Magenta lettuce, and a bunch of tat soi (asian greens in the mustard family, but mild flavour-good for stir-fries, soups, eggs, and more!). Both of the shares are pictured below to get your mouths watering as you await your pickup tomorrow.
A few more notes and reminders on Pick-Ups:

The shares will be dropped at their respective spots by tomorrow, Wednesday June 28 at 1pm. We ask that you pick up your shares by 7pm, otherwise accessing them may not be possible, however please let us know if for some reason you do not make it to the depot by this time.
Containers-We kindly ask that you bring your own receptacle for transport of the vegetables home. We have limited bins here on the farm so it is much appreciated if you can bring bags, another bin or a cooler in order to transfer your vegetables into upon pick-up. We pack our shares in the blue rubbermaid totes from Canadian Tire, so if you happen to have one of those around, you can just swap them each week and leave a replacement.

We are truly excited to be starting the CSA this week. Despite a very wet, cold start to the year, things are coming around and starting to look so lush in our fields. We look forward to coming weeks and sharing with you in the harvest for the 2017 growing season. We will be in touch soon, and as always, do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns, questions or comments.
