Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a partnership of mutual benefit between a farm and a community of supporters which provides a direct link between the production and consumption of food. Both the risks and bountiful harvest are shared between the farmer and the CSA members.
Waratah Downs Organic Farm commits to providing a diverse selection of high quality organic vegetables. We will do everything in our ability, in keeping with the Canadian Organic Standards, to deal with challenges posed by weather, pests or disease. We grow a wide range of crops and varieties to reduce the risk of crop failures. We appreciate the commitment of our CSA customers and will ensure that the quantity and quality of produce in each basket is the farm’s top priority.
Summer CSA Program
The summer season consists of either weekly or biweekly deliveries starting mid-June and lasting until mid-October.
The cost of the program is as follows:
Weekly Deliveries (16 weeks): $600
Bi-weekly Deliveries (8 weeks): $300
Signing up
A secure, online member profile is created for you when you sign up to our CSA program. You can log in to your account at any time to see payment status, pickup location information, and account activity.
Payments
We accept payment via cheque and E-Transfer. To pay by E-Transfer or by cheque, please choose the cheque payment option. You will receive further instructions by email.
Cheques can be sent to 3444 Scotch Line Rd. Perth, Ontario, K7H 3C5. Once payment is received, your account information will be updated to reflect the payment. Details on how to pay by E-Transfer will be specified in the reply email you receive when signing up.
Picking Up Your Veggies
As a CSA member, you commit to picking up your vegetables from the same, pre-determined location each week. If you cannot make the set day and time, you are responsible to either have someone else pick up your vegetables for that week, or to lose your share for that week. Pickup times and locations are not flexible once they have been chosen.
We usually pick your produce 24 hours before delivery. We always do our very best to ensure that your food is fresh and that all containers are clean. On the farm, your food is packed into a clean Rubbermaid container, loaded into our truck and trailer and delivered.
Your CSA share will be delivered to your pickup location. The containers will be marked with the member name; please only take the produce located in the CSA bin labelled with your name. For those of you who want to take the bin with you, you must leave a clean replacement Roughneck Rubbermaid bin of the same size in its place.
Communication
Waratah Downs Organic Farm publishes a newsletter on a regular basis during the CSA season. The newsletter will be delivered to the email address associated with the member account. It may contain recipes, announcements related to delivery schedule, prices, or policies as well as any important information regarding your CSA.
