Can you believe it’s already the last month of this year’s CSA? There are only a few more shares left. But they promise to be good and we even have a last taste of summer for you in this one, with some magic mountain tomatoes!
This week we’ve got a lot of new goods for everyone, so we hope you are set to enjoy.
Small shares:
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Magic Mountain Tomatoes
Carrots
Broccoli
Aubergine
Honey Nut Squash
Pepper
Medium Shares add:
An extra honey nut squash
potatoes
Extra peppers
Large shares:
Another extra honey nut squash
Garlic
Kale
It’s a bit cooler, so a good time to take on new dishes. Jamie Oliver has a recipe here for a vegetarian Cauliflower curry that some of you might like. If you want to shake it up a big, why not add some honey nut squash to it, or some potatoes if you have a medium or large share, or some left over from last week.
Although I have to say, those honey nut squash – a *huge* hit in the market (we often sell out!) – are amazing on their own, roasted with olive oil until they start to caramelize.
Here’s a tasty looking recipe for broccoli soup. Also from Jamie Oliver’s website, but from a member post. I usually peruse a few sites but the best offerings this week are coming from here.

Also from the soup files (but not from Jamie this time) is a recipe from Fine Cooking for an autumn soup. This one is broth based, and can use the white onion (instead of the yellow), carrots, squash (you can use your honey nut in place of butternut) and kale (for the large shares or those who have some left). You could also throw in Broccoli instead, though.

But if you want a simple side dish, you could just roast the broccoli, and then top it with some lemon juice, toasted almonds, and parmesan. Tasty!
Now I wonder if any of you tried the mashed potatoes and kale. I am embarrassed to admit I made a pot last night and found it impossible to stop eating once I started. If you haven’t tried this yet, you must. It ranks high up there in the realm of comfort foods!
Have a great week, and enjoy this wonderful sunny weather we’ve been having.
